Really??

Has it really been 3 months? I can't believe its been that long since I last posted. I think the daunting task of uploading pictures to blogger (which seems to take awhile when you have ALOT of pictures to post) just did me in....but I am back and hope to be posting more regularly now.. :) I will take you down memory lane...

Logan turned 2 on September 20th. We had a small BBQ in the backyard where we invited my two aunts and uncles who live close by and then Logan had his best friend Zack over too. They had fun even though it was a hot day.

Since Herbie was diagnosed with Diabetes we have been trying to change our eating habits (notice the word try :) ) and so I decided to do cupcakes that had a reduced sugar cake mix. It didn't taste any different to me :)

We had a blast celebrating his birthday and am still amazed that he is two.

A couple of days after his birthday he wanted some cheetos. Instead of asking he grabbed the bag and was bringing them to me and slipped....even though i was upset I HAD to take the picture. I mean who wouldn't?? :)

On Columbus Day we were fortunate enough to have the time to go to the local Pumpkin Patch. Mom was off that day and since its free admission and free parking during the weekday we thought it would be perfect! It was! There were barely anyone there and so it was alot more laid back then the day we went the year before. As you can tell he found his perfect pumpkin. Although he would have rather stayed on the train then anything else.

A couple of months ago Herbie and I purchased tickets to see our favorite group in concert: Rascal Flatts. I was excited to go and we decided to take the motorcycle up to Clearlake since mom was going to watch Logan for us. It was the first time we were away from Logan for two nights but it was definitely relaxing and wonderful. The weather decided to turn on us and rain most of the time on the way back home and lets just say i was glad mom had made a fire. :) The concert was wonderful just like the year before although we had a group of drunk women in front of us that made it a little less enjoyable...

For Halloween Logan was a Caterpillar and loved every minute of it. We went to the Luna's again this year and he had a blast going from house to house. A couple of times he almost left us behind so he could get to the next house. I have been dealing with a tear in my achillies tendon so the doctor put me in a cast. I was being wheeled around in a wheelchair but it made it easier to tote a tired toddler around to the next house to get his next candy :)

Thanksgiving this year was our definite tradition of going to Gridley to eat with Herbie's extended family and then to my Aunt and Uncle's house to eat the next dinner with them.

The day after Thanksgiving since we didn't go out to any sales (which I never do anyway-and herbie was working) we decided to decorate for Christmas and put up the tree while Logan was napping. He woke up and came out and saw all the lights and just kept saying "lights! Christmas!! lights!!" and ran around the house (we had lights up in the kitchen too) for about 20 minutes saying it.

Because of traffic and the amount of stuff on his load Herbie had to layover on Friday night so we didn't put ornaments on the tree until Herbie got home saturday night. It didn't last long. We got about 5 or 6 ornaments in and Logan decided that he wanted to be the supervisor and I would be the one putting the ornaments on. So funny. He did like this years ornament though. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse :).

This past week we took Logan on his first fishing trip with his PaPap. He lasted on the boat from 9am to 1pm. He had alot of fun "fishing" (they were salmon fishing so it was more of a sit and wait kind of fishing-Logan was just holding on to the poles which were in the pole holders). He entertained us all and soon he was ready to go home and sleep. He almost fell asleep on the way home....Herbie stayed on the boat with my uncle George and they caught an 18lb salmon which was as long as Logan is tall. so amazing.

I wanted to do Christmas pictures and although I don't feel this is the best of "me" persay I love Logan and Herbie in this picture. I hope all is well with all of you who are reading this and Merry Christmas!

18 days and then 2!!

Logan's personality has developed so much in the last month...While in the living room watching tv you can over hear him talking to many of his toys. For example the other night he had his little people bus and two little people. he tried pushing the bus and they both fell out. He picked them up and put them to his shoulder and said "sorry friend, sorry friend, your ok!" then put one back in the bus then changed his mind and threw that one across the room so the other could have its place granted there are no other little people on the bus!

I have also been so engrossed with having to tell him what to say such as "love you grammie, love you daddy, thank you, your welcome, and excuse me" that while I was putting him in his car seat after swimming and hanging out with the Luna boys he said "That was fun mommy, that was fun" it just floored me that soon I will be listening to him talk so much more! My little man is growing up!
This is a new favorite picture of my two boys
He loves his daddy so much!!

This is Logan's new favorite thing to do....Climb on daddy then drop to the bean bag.

Life Changing....

Today we got the news. It wasn't joyous like that of being pregnant again, it was the words "You have Diabetes". Some of you i'm sure are shocked as we were. Herbie doesn't fit the description for a "Diabetic" but it does run in the family. How did we get to this point? well Herbie had to go in to renew his medical card. The card is so he can do his job, its mandatory. When he went in they did blood work and his glucose level was 395. It should have been at 120 or below. The best is 100 or below. So as you can see we were shocked but looking back i could see the signs. peeing alot, excessive drinking (koolaid which didn't help but herbie doesn't drink straight water), and being overly tired. Now usually the first and third wouldn't bother me because 1. he loves kool-aid and if he can get water that way why should i stop him? and 2. he works crazy hours why wouldn't he be tired!
He then went in a week later to get bloodwork done and sure enough it came back as positive for diabetes. We thought it was a fluke thing since the symptoms decreased but alas that wasn't the case.
We are taking steps in the right direction by being referred to a dietician, trying to count the carbs (which contains alot of sugar), and trying to exercise more. I believe in the long run it is all going to work out if we stick to our plan and the best part is with Logan still being so young he won't know the difference.
Please keep Herbie in your thoughts as he goes through this transition and I will keep you updated on his progress of keeping his blood sugar down.

Random thoughts about a boy....

It's 11:15 on a Monday night and for some reason I can't go to sleep...It could be that my mind is filled with all the thoughts of what I need to do tomorrow. Wash the car (believe me it needs it), clean our room, organize the chaos that is all over our desk, clean logan's room, dinner etc. Then I start to think about my little man. People keep saying "they grow up fast!, don't miss anything!" , I used to humor them and say "Yeah I know" or "Im sure they do!" and then I had him. You see in a little over one month he is going to be two. I can't fathom it, I am not ready for it, and most of all when did it happen?? when did he grow another whole year? I wasn't ready for it when he turned one but now i've come to terms with it....I think this year turned me for a loop when looking back he has grown SO much in JUST a year. He has gone from crawling to walking, gurgling to talking, and content in my arms to exploring his world. This little man loves to dance, say his ABC's (and point to the right ones too!), tell you over and over where the octagons are, drink his "koo-aid", watch his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, go to sleep with 3 things: 1. na-na (his binkie), 2. grover, and 3. his blankie, he has gotten over his fear of the water and will run to it if we aren't careful, loves yelling for us when he's in bed and its been over an hour since we put him in there, playing "games" with daddy on the Wii, going bye-byes, and so much more. Really where does the time go?

SAY CHEESE!!

We have a ritual now. After naptime he gets a snack and juice, and we watch a DVR'd Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Today was no different but I wanted to take pictures of this daily routine. When I got the camera all ready he said "CHEESE" and looked at me and smiled. I couldn't believe it....after MONTHS and MONTHS (ok not that much but it felt like it!) of him looking away from the camera if he ever saw it in sight he finally looked at me when I asked him too! Yes it might be a silly thing to be excited about but as a scrapbooking mom it is WONDERFUL!!

He was looking at me and smiling in this one but Mickey did something on TV before my camera took it.

Congrats Robert!!

Tonite we got the opportunity to watch Robert Luna graduate from 8th grade. I stood there watching and listening to the speeches and one girl said "these next 4 years are just a blink of our life" (or something like that) and i realized that was true. It was 15 years ago when i was in the same spot Robert was in tonite. It hit me how fast the years have gone and how I thought back then "yeah right, it won't go by that fast".

As the graduation was over and we walked over to where Robert was and took pictures I started tearing up. I can't believe that he's now going to be in High School. I am happy to note that he will be attending my Alma Mater of Sutter High; Go Huskies! and I hope he will be open to change as his freshman year will be shocking, wonderful, exciting, nerve racking, and pretty hard although I know deep down that Robert will excel at anything he puts his mind to. I am so proud of you Robert! We all are!

Here are some pictures from tonite:

waiting for Graduation to start...man was it hot!

my word we are already at the class of 09? I am definitely getting old!

The one circled is Robert!

Standing for his diploma

Whooo hooo GO ROBERT! YOU DID IT!!

Im sure he's saying "they really gave it to me?? whoo hoo!"
Just kidding Robert!
After the graduation was over. Logan was not happy but luckily Robert was a good sport! Although after Robert left he kept calling out his name!

Me and the Graduate!

Logan + ink = a mess

Sorry the pictures are dark but I had to post this. While I was outside talking with Herbie, Logan took it upon himself to get into my scrapbooking stuff. Luckily he didn't get to the cutters but he did get into my stamps and ink. It was definitely my fault for leaving my container unzipped but Logan knew he was doing something wrong when i walked in and said "buddy what are you doing?" and he jumped....

stamping his leg and there was definitely ink on his foot (not shown)

ink on the hands

can you tell he knows he did something wrong?

Out of the mouth of my Logan...

You know the saying "Out of the mouth of babes" ? well i had just one of those moments tonite with Logan. He is talking so much more now and tonite was no exception. Mom and I were watching TV and Logan decided to give Mom his stuffed Grover so he could be her friend. (he kept saying "friend friend" to her the whole time) Then he brought over his Tickle me Elmo to her. He wouldn't let her hold him but then he put him on the floor and this conversation began:

Logan:"uh oh! Poo Poo!"

Me: "You went poo poo?"

Logan: "Elmo go Poo Poo" (as he's lifting Elmo's legs)

Me: "Does Elmo need a diaper?"

Logan then looks at me like what im saying is ridiculous and then he lifts Elmo's legs again and says "poo poo all done, all done"

I was laughing so hard because he was so SERIOUS and the looks on his face when he lifted Elmo's legs were priceless! :D

I just had to share...I can't wait for more funny/priceless moments like this one!

Logan and Elmo

I never thought I would get sucked into the world of Elmo. Is it because he's red? Is it because he has his own little world? I don't know but Logan LOVES his Elmo. When we watch Sesame Street he can't wait for Elmo's World to come on. If he's in the other room and the music starts playing he will drop everything and RUN into the living room to see Elmo on the T.V.

Logan has a Tickle me Elmo and before I started videotaping Herbie had showed Logan how Elmo can "spit" out a ball. This video is of Logan making Elmo spit and then he got engrossed in Elmo laughing.

10 Years Ago Today...

Henry, Frenchie, Milt
December 1951-May 13th 1999

Ten years ago today we were dealt with a horrific blow to our family. We lost my dad. He died of a massive heart attack. I can still remember the day vividly. I think I always will. Even though this day marks 10 years and it seems I am all cried out the tears start to flood back. Not exactly for this day but for the memories I have of my dad and the many days I haven't had with him. I miss him terribly but I know he is up there watching over me along with my Grandpa. He was such a great man to everyone he met. I think that's why it took him more than 30 minutes to get a gallon of milk when we went to the store!

I wrote this last year (although changed the year this time) and it still rings true today of all that I can remember...

10 years ago today:
I woke up to my mom telling me to call 911
I waited for a fire truck and ambulance
I watched my mom say goodbye
I watched my dad being wheeled out on a stretcher
I listened to my dad say "it hurts"
I saw the EMT'S do CPR
I banged and yelled at my uncles door
I drove to the hospital
I prayed the whole time
I held my mom's hand
I knew by the doctors face he was gone
I screamed "NO"
I cried
I cried w/my mom
I had to call my brother and tell him the news
I listened to the coroners report, yet couldn't remember any of it
I heard him say "massive heart attack"
I got hugged by my family
I went home with my uncle
I wanted the whole world to stop
I kept calling Herbie but his phone wasn't near him as he was coming home from L.A.
I had to call my dad's sister to tell her the news
I had to be strong for my mom
I cried so many times
I finally got ahold of Herbie
I cried again
I called my closest friends
I was glad when Candy came over (Thank you Snort!!)
I talked and cried with Candy
I finally got to be held by herbie
I heard "I Love You" for the first time from Herbie
I cried so much
I had to take sleeping pills to sleep
I cried myself to sleep in Herbies arms

A Change Has Come.....

Oh door...You have lived such a long life, 26+ years in fact!...You have protected us from the wind, rain, and heat. You have welcomed strangers, family, and friends. You have been a wonderful sight to see after a long trip. Although you are now off your hinges you won't be thrown away. You are going to replace our Garage Door to the backyard. You are going to have new scenery to look at such as our goats and the new deck...

Although you are not leaving us, we had to get a new Entry door. Yes a new, younger door is replacing you but we still love you!

This is our new door...seems strange to see it there as I have looked at our old door for 26+ years. It was starting to fail us as an entry door and so my mom bit the bullet and got a new one! I do have to say it looks great!!!

Family Pictures

For my birthday I wanted to get some pictures taken. I didn't want to do the studio pictures anymore because i felt that taking outside pictures was more to our family's nature. I asked Herbie's cousin Michelle Q. if she would take them for us (she does it professionally on the side). She was definitely up for it! I was so excited when the day came (this past Sunday). Logan unfortunately was teething badly so there weren't many of him smiling but I love what we got! We decided to take the pictures out at the old barn on Herbie's Aunt and Uncle's place. It used to be where his Grandparents lived and he used to play there when he was Logan's age (and older) and so it had more sentimental value. We also took some at the park in Gridley so that Logan could play. I love all the pictures that she took and now it's my decision on what pictures I am wanting! The pictures below are just a sampling of the ones she took.

Thank you again Michelle (and Amy) for taking the time to do these you are wonderful! www.imagesbyq.net

I swear this one looks like he's about to throw it at us!

This one is one of my favorites!

He can't go a day without playing Golf!

Sunday, April 19, 2009

This Sunday we were lucky enough to go to Beale AFB which is only about 20 to 30 min away from our house and enjoy their Air Show. The last time i was at their Air Show was with my dad. It was so much fun I told Herbie that we HAD to this time! Especially since it was free!! We decided to go early in the morning since it was going to be in the 90s by the end of the day. The reason we went is because Logan has a fascination with planes. Everytime he sees one he yells out "ANE! ANE!!!!" It helps him that both his parents have a fascination with planes too. We were able to walk through planes, get up close and see the acrobatics in the air. We left about noon because Logan was getting hot, tired and we were ready to go too...but he still by the end loved seeing the planes in the air.

The "Patriots" were the last act of the day. Unfortunately we weren't able to see them but that was ok since it was hot even when we left!

walking into his first Cargo plane...

he loved being able to pull up the cargo tie holds and make them bang!

Hi mommy!

This plane was HUGE! Thats Logan and Herbie at the bottom of the nose of the plane!

There was music playing and he had to start dancing!

Look at those planes!!

Although we got ALOT of sun (yeah Herbie wearing the tank top in retrospect wasn't a good idea), we had a blast and can't wait to take him next year!!
